[News]Korean Photographers select “25 beautiful faces”

Korean movie entertainment weekly magazine “MovieWeek” conducted its yearly survey among the country’s 52 top professional photographers to select “25 beautiful faces” for 2008 among the male and female entertainers. Ha Jung-woo and Kim Hye-soo were selected as the No 1 beautiful face for the male and female category respectively.

SEOUL---CJ Entertainment prexy Kim Joo-sung has been named as the most influential figure in the Korean film industry for the first time.
Kim topped the 13th annual "Power 50" list published in the recent edition of film weekly magazine Cine21, which is voted for by 85 leading film industry personalities and observers. Previously in second place, he swaps places with Tcha Seung-jai of Sidus.
CJ Entertainment headed by Kim is taking the most critical role as the key investor and distributor in industry that is struggling this year. CJ Entertainment currently manages numerous biggest budget titles which will be released 2008, including "The Good, the Bad and the Weird", "Modern Boy" "The Divine Weapon" "Kang Chul-joong" and "Thirst".
Slipping to No.2 was producer Tcha Seung-jai of Sidus FNH, who previously topped in two consecutive years on the list. Unchanged in the ranks were Cinema Service founder and "Kang Chul-joong" helmer Kang Woo-suk was at No. 3, followed by Mediaplex CEO Kim Woo-taek at No.4; with helmer Bong Joon-ho at No. 5.
Rounding out the top 10 were MK Pictures producer Shim Jae-myung, Lotte Entertainment CEO Kim Kwang-seop, actor Song Kang-ho ("The Host"), helmer Park Chan-wook and Yoo In-chon, the former actor and newly inaugurated Minister of culture, sports and tourism as the first time entry at No.10
Among the actors and actresses on the list, Cannes winner Jeon Do-yeon was ranked at 17, Jang Dong-geun (upcoming in "Laundry Warrior") at 23, Lee Byung-hun ( upcoming in Paramount's "G.I. Joe") at 49. Korean Wave superstar Rain (a.k.a. Jeong Ji-hoon, "I'm a Cyborg, but that's O.K." "Speed Racer" ) also entered the list for the first time at 36.
Helmers included Kim Ji-woon("The Good, the Bad and the Weird") at No.12, Lee Joon-ik ("Sunny") at No.14, Choi Dong-hoon ("Tazza") at 29.

Most popular actors for 1st half of 2008 – Jang Dong-gun and Kim Tae-hee

Jang Dong-gun and Kim Tae-hee have been selected as the most popular male and female actors for the 1st half of 2008. The most popular in singer section are Rain and Wonder Girls while Yoo Jae-suk and Shin Bong-sun are the most popular in the comedian section.
Marketing research firm Lee’s PR & Research Ltd announced the result of entertainer popularity survey for 1st half of 2008 which it conducted on 1,404 people aged 13 to 65 in 5 big cities nationwide from 25 to 31 March 2008.
In the male movie actor and TV drama actor section, Jang Dong-gun defended his No.1 position which he has held since 2nd half of 2005 with 25.4% (Translator’s Note: should be 1st half of 2005). Jo In-sung took the 2nd place (19.2%) and No.3 is Ahn Sung-ki (7.1%). Others in the top ten include Kwan Sang-woo, Bae Yong-joon, Jung Joon-ho, Won Bin and Jung Woo-sung - Kang Dong-won - Choi Bo-ram (joint 10th place)
In the female movie actor and TV drama actor section, Kim Tae-hee rose from last year 2nd half’s No.4 to No.1 with 16.0% and overtook Jeon Ji-hyun (8.5%). Kim Ha-neul and Choi Jin-sil whose TV drama are currently showing took the joint 3rd place with 8.4%. Others in the top 10 include Lee Young-ae, Kim Hye-soo, Han Ji-min, Song Yoon-ah, Kim Hye-ja and Song Hye-kyo.
In the male singer section, Rain with 15.7% support votes took No.1 position for the 6th consecutive time. Lee Seung-ki who gathered popularity through ‘1 night, 2 days’ corner in KBS2 TV’s ‘Happy Together’ rose to 2nd place with 11.8%. They were followed by BigBang, Tae Jina and SG Wannabe.
For the female singers, Wonder Girls took the No.1 position with 20.0% while 2nd place went to Girl Generation (18.7%). Lee Hyo-ri who held No.1 position since 2nd half of 2006 dropped to No.3 (18.2%). She was followed by Jang Yoon-jung and Jewelery.
In the male comedian section, Yoo Jae-suk confirmed his unique popularity with 51.1% while Kang Ho-dong took the 2nd place with 24.4%. They were followed by Park Myung-soo, Shin Dong-yub and Jung Jong-chul.
For female comedian, Shin Bong-sun maintained her No.1 place with 45.9%. She was followed by Park Mi-sun, Jo Hye-ryun, Kim Mi-hwa and Jung Sun-hee.
For sportsman section, Park Ji-sung defended his No 1 position with 47.2% while Lee Seung-yub and Park Tae-hwan took the joint 2nd place with 18.0%.

In receiving of the upcoming April 14th of Korea Black Day, actor Jang Dong Gun and Kim Tae Hee were chosen as the most wanted male and female actor to spend time with during Korea Black Day.
1701 single male and female between age 20 to 30 took part in this survey that was held by a certain beer company in Korea from April 8th to 11th. JDG and KTH with 26.5% and 30.4% of the votes took the first place respectively in the male and female category.
Jo In Sung and Jeon Ji Hyun with 26.3% and 12.1% were in the second place. The third place went to Kang Dong Won and Yun Eun Hye who received 10.7% and 9.1% of the votes. Rain and Kim Ha-Neul with 10.7% and 9.1% votes were in the Forth place. And Gong Yoo and Ha Ji Won were in the Fifth place with 9.1% and 8.8% votes.
In Korea on April 14th, those single male and female that did not receive or give any gifts in the previous 2 months (aka during Valentine and White Day) will gather together to eat Jajangmyeon to encourage one another.
