SEOUL -- Specialty finance and investment company Continental Entertainment Capital on Wednesday said it is investing in the $47 million Korea-U.S. co-production "The Laundry Warrior."
The film recently wrapped principal photography in New Zealand. It is produced by Barrie Osborne ("Lord of the Rings"), Michael Peyser ("Ruthless People") and Lee Joo-ick ("Seven Swords") for their Sad Flutes production shingle.
The film's total production capital comes from a combination of CEC and third-party equity.
"We believe there is a strong crossover appeal for this film," Jeffrey Andrick, CEC managing director, said in a statement released at the Hong Kong Filmart.
Written and directed by first-time filmmaker Lee Sngmoo, "The Laundry Warrior" is the story of an Asian warrior who hides in the American badlands.
"It starts with a remarkable story and when you factor in marquee producers and a cast that includes Geoffrey Rush, Kate Bosworth and Jang Dong-gun, you have a film as promising as any other out there," Andrick said.
Launched in April 2007, CEC is a subsidiary of Continental Entertainment Group.
Kathy Morgan International is selling international territories while Osborne and Peyser are handling North American distribution rights.

The debuting time of Korean representative handsome star Jang Dong-gun (35) 14 years ago, ‘No matter how he tried to make ugly faces, he would always be handsome’. Jang Dong-gun made a debut through1993 MBC drama ‘Our Heaven’. Because at that time he was a rookie who just made a debut, his seniors such as Hong Hak-pyo, Park Chul and Kim Chan-woo were more popular than him. Who knew that he would become a superstar as he is now? These photos were taken in his 1993 debut time when Sports Seoul’s reporter visited Jang Dong-gun’s home to take his everyday-life photos. Looking at him taking off a bit of his attractiveness in front of Sports Seoul’s camera, we feel that he was different from recent debuting rookies.

Jang Dong-gun return to Korea on December 22nd

Jang Dong-gun who’s been filming ‘Laundry Warrior’ in New Zealand since the beginning of November, has cleared filming schedule for 23rd December and would return to Korea on 22nd December late afternoon, he’s planning to stay in Korea for a while and follow the arranged personal schedule.
Jang Dong-gun also planned to comfort his good friend Han Jae-suk whose mother passed away on 21st December. He would visit the mortuary of Samsung Medical Center in Ilwon-dong Seoul together with Hyun Bin to convey his condolence to bereaved Han Jae-suk and his family.
Jang Dong-gun and Han Jae-suk have been good friends since acted together in 1997 SBS drama ‘Model’.
Meanwhile, the progress of ‘Laundry Warrior’ filming until now is about 40%. He would fly back to New Zealand early next year.

Top star Jang Dong-gun, Kim Seung-woo, Hwang Jung-min, Hyun Bin, Joo Jin-mo, Ji Jin-hee and Gong Hyung-jin, 7 actors will be participating in loving campaign, to help the underprivileged and fisherman village student to obtain more opportunities to learn English.
As the members of the baseball team 'Playboys", they volunteer to participate in a campaign named "Antenna of Love", a TV program event that is organized by EBS TV program.
"Antenna of Love" is sponsored by the educational department, EBS and Sky Life. This activity help the family who is underprivileged and for students that live in area that has difficulty receiving signal by installing one thousand antenna to receive programs that are broadcast via satellite signal. This will help them to receive free EBS English channel content for 3 years.
Each of the seven actors helped to record two parts (each part is about one minute and 30 seconds) of campaign clips, that talked about their experience with English language and concurrently emphasize on the importance of English education to promote how EBS English channel could be utilize.
JDG who is currently shooting Hollywood movie "Laundry Warrior" expressed, "The emphasis of the importance of English language despite a hundred times reiteration will never be enough. If one wants to achieve success in Hollywood, one has to surpass the boundary of acting and language. Firstly, we would like to thank EBS channel to broadcast free English learning program. A close associate of Jang Dong-gun said, “He hasn’t decided to return to Korea even for a short time, he may take a rest in New Zealand. It’s the height of movie’s first part filming, he would focus and concentrate on his acting”.

Korea's heartthrob Jang Dong-kun (also known as Jang Dong-gun), 35, will be the new face for Hera Homme, the men's collection of a major cosmetic brand here. He joins popular actress Kim Tae-hee, who currently models for Hera's women's line.
``Not only does Jang have a perfectly chiseled face, but he is also well-known to be a highly diligent and focused professional. He possesses a sexy, masculine appeal that fits our product image,'' said Hera's brand manager Choi Deok-su in a statement.
Launched in 2005, Herra Homme currently ranks first place in the local cosmetics market for men.
Jang will be featured from December. The photo shoots took place in New Zealand, according to Jang's management agency Star M, because he is currently shooting his latest film ``Laundry Warrior'' there. He stars opposite Kate Bosworth in the action flick, which went into production earlier this month. It will be Jang's Hollywood debut.
Jang has previously modeled for Korean make-up brand Missha with international pop star BoA. The actor has starred in some of Korea's highest grossing films such as ``Taegeukgi: Brothers of War'' and ``Friend.'' A research organization NI Korea carried out a survey among 5,213 men and women above 20s nationwide on which entertainer they want to be with everyday for the various activities. Women from 20s to 50s unanimously expressed that they want to “wake up in the morning with JDG”. On the question “which entertainer to be with for a glass of wine in the bar?”, they also chose JDG.
